"The mirror effect is that subtle phenomenon where the other becomes a reflection of what I carry within me". In Mirror my wonderful mirror, Eugénie Modaï delves deep into the meanders of the unconscious to reveal the marvellous in everyone.

 

The exhibition begins with childhood, when the power of wonder is still very much alive. The artist reveals snippets of her own childhood, summoning them back into existence. The origin is then projected, a reflection of oneself and of the other, a reflection of oneself.

 

Gradually, the exhibition opens up to colour and the world, like a child discovering them. The other becomes an increasingly important part of the picture, and sometimes becomes a source of apprehension.
