Born in 1982, Aurélie Bauer lives and works in Paris. She graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2008 and was awarded the Renoir Prize in 2012. From 2010 to 2015, she worked as an assistant to the French painter François Boisrond. 

For the past 12 years, Bauer has been exploring the relationship between painting and cinema through the lens of framing and lighting. In 2022, she redirected her research and work towards a new series which put an emphasis on the themes of transmission, maternity, origin, chaos and migration.
